I am recommending this book for the Bluebonnet Award!  I read Son of Defiance on a rainy Monday…  It is an excellent book.  I am proud that we now have a book (a novel) honoring the Nueces Massacre story.  I always felt that Comfort, Texas was held in disdain by many Hill Country citizens.  When I was growing up -- asking questions -- disdain was always the answer I was given. Mom, I got my copy (Son of Defiance) and of course, at first I was thinking, yeah, this is pretty good. Then I kept on reading and I thought, hmmm, I like this one better than the MOMMA one.  Then I kept on reading and I thought, Damn!  This is really good!  I have been diligently reading your new book and have to force myself to keep from turning right to the end to see how it all turns out.
