[Readers say...] [Momma's Kitchen]

The neat version of the wood stove. In winter there was often a cardboard box with wide-eyed baby chicks behind and under the stove…of course…with sounds one will never forget!

The pot of coffee -- cooking on a wood stove -- never to be forgotten aroma!

Iron with this for a while. Martha Stewart, where were you when we needed you?

The pressure canner with glass jars inside. Don’t open it under pressure… Green beans on the ceiling!

The old coffee mill. Back then, buying coffee beans and grinding them yourself saved money!! Especially during WW II.

To teach a child patience --get him to churn cream into butter!

A Separator separates the cream from the fresh cow’s milk. Turn the handle until the bell stops ringing with every turn and you’re doing it fast enough.

Four slice toaster.  We use this for “show and guess” with students.

Frying pans. Frying with freshly rendered lard was routine practice.

The Icebox.  Heaven help the little kids that didn’t latch the door!
